It seems without a doubt that once a game is released the question is asked…..will there be a sequel? In the case of Saints Row: The Third the answer is a resounding yes. Danny Bilson from THQ has revealed that work is already being started on Saints Row 4, this apparently was happening before Saints Row: The Third was even released! I seem to remember this being asked when Resident Evil 5 was released.
Bilson said to to X-Play. “I already know what Saint’s Row 4 is about, and it is wilder than this one. It’s a good example of how you take what you have and you say, ‘What can happen in the next?”
Is anyone else excited to know that Saints Row 4 is going to be happening or is this news being met with dread and despair? From what I have read in gaming forums I think it is split 50/50, some want the sequel with improvements and some don’t want the sequel at all.
With the use of a new engine some of the customization especially in the wardrobe department was disappointing, I liked we could change our undershirts in the second one and I did miss it in the third game. Another disappointing part to Saints Row: The Third was that the main story seemed a bit forced and rushed, half of the missions were just the first side missions. Then after that it seemed you were rushed through to the end of the game, or it did for me. The missions were enjoyable including driving with a tiger sat next to you and clearing out zombies under one of the best Mayors possible. I won’t spoil who it is for those who haven’t played Saints Row: The Third or for those who haven’t got that far.
I think the other fear is dragging out a game series too long can make some gamers almost resent it. The Crash Bandicoot series for me now is just nothing more than a cow being milked for every last bit of revenue they can squeeze out. The same can be said for Mario, Zelda, Sonic, Sly. Wait a second I’m seeing a pattern here!
