DESTINY is the newest “reported” project of Bungie after they released Halo into their lovely hands, but the twist here is that, Activision will be the one who will publish Bungie’s future games. Or maybe, just the four Destiny games.
Previously back on 2010, Game Developer Bungie signed a contract with Activision within the said year. A sealed court document containing the contract was obtained by the Los Angeles Times later on.
The contract states that Bungie will develop four sci-fantasy action shooter games. Code named Destiny that is set to release every proceeding year starting next fall. Together with four downloadable expansions packs, Code named Comet that is also set to release every proceeding year in the beginning of fall 2014.
Also stated is that the first Destiny game will be released first on Microsoft’s Console (Xbox 360 or even Xbox 720,) However the other three games will be released in Microsoft’s consoles as well as Sony’s console and potentially also on the PC.
Lastly detailed on the contract is that Bungie is potentially working on a new Marathon game. Marathon is their first ever success back in the 90′s. It’s a doom clone but somewhat had a big cult following throughout it’s years in the top echelon of Mac Gaming. Bungie’s Marathon might get a new sequel. Due to the fact that the studio can’t devote more 5% of it’s staff to make the sequel.
Bungie also followed back a statement about Destiny in their site earlier;
So, yeah. While we’re not ready to show you what we’ve been working on, we can reconfirm that we are hard at work on our new universe. We can’t wait for you to see it.
